Dr. Robert Megna

DO, MS, FAARFM, ABOIM, AOBFP, ABIHM, ABAARM

Dr. Megna is the owner and director of Cardiovascular Health Solutions, a program specializing in cardiovascular and diabetes risk reduction and treatment, and Ferris Family Medicine, a family practice clinic.

He is one of the few physicians who holds certifications by both the American Board of Clinical Lipidology (Diplomate, American Board of Clinical Lipidology) and is a Certified Hypertension Specialist. Dr. Megna has a Fellowship and Master’s Degree in Metabolic and Nutritional Medicine and an Advanced Fellowship in Anti-aging, Regenerative and Functional Medicine. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Anti-Aging/Regenerative Medicine.

Dr. Megna has been in private practice for over thirty five years. His focus on preventative health and wellness, utilizing an integrative approach with lifestyle modification, nutriceutical, and pharmaceutical care is what sets him apart. He has extensive experience in the use of advanced cardiovascular and metabolic diagnostic and laboratory testing in his clinical practice. Dr. Megna is a popular and prolific national speaker on advanced lipid and cardio metabolic biomarkers. His unique experience is based on his vast knowledge of advanced testing and its clinical application within the practice of medicine. Dr. Megna is married to his wife, Bridget, and together they have two sons, Seth and John.

Carolyn Milligan

RNC, MSN,
FNP, WHC

Carolyn Milligan wanted to be a nurse since she was in grade school. She graduated from nursing school at Texas Women’s University in 1980 and then from the University of Texas Health Science Center of Dallas in 1995 as a nurse practitioner. In 1999, she completed her Masters in Nursing and received her certification in Family Practice.

Carolyn has worked for FFM since 2001. She loves the ability to care for families over the course of many years and FFM’s focus on health promotion and disease prevention. Carolyn has worked at the new, Cardiovascular Health Solutions side of the clinic since it opened in the fall of 2015, and she is passionate about empowering patients to reach their health goals.Carolyn hopes to become a Certified Diabetic Nurse Educator within the coming year. She and her husband, Joe, have four grown children.

Caridad Merkel

MSN, APRN, CNM, FNP-C

Cari has been in the healthcare field for almost 20 years. She graduated from nursing school in 2005. She spent the first 14 years of her career working in labor and delivery where she became very passionate about Women’s Health. In 2017, she decided to become a certified nurse midwife. In 2019, she graduated from Frontier Nursing University with her Masters in Nursing with an emphasis in Nurse Midwifery. She worked for two years in a private practice in New Mexico before her husband’s job brought her to Texas.
 
She has continued to work as a Certified Nurse Midwife in multiple county hospitals in the DFW area. Through this work, she became passionate about rural healthcare and taking care of the underserved. Her desire to care for every patient throughout the lifespan led her to pursue her Post Graduate Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner. In 2023, she graduated from Texas Tech with her Post Graduate Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Shortly after she graduated she became board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. 
 
During her clinical time at Ferris Family, she became passionate about disease prevention and health promotion and knew that Ferris Family was where she wanted to work. Cari is looking forward to caring for your whole family and working alongside Dr. Megna and Carolyn. In her free time she likes to spend time with her husband, Ryan and her three children, Isaiah, Hope and Addison.
